Nozomarezu kowareta shinjitsu wa urahara
Title’s from Conceived Sorrow by Dir en Grey. Okie, so I don’t speak Japanese. Sorry about that. This is still one of my favorite songs… Especially the unplugged version, which I can’t seem to find at the moment (*cries*) Anyway.
I was looking for something to entertain myself with on this great wide web, and here’s what I found. This is a blog about blogging, and should you not have the time to read the post through now, I’ll try and explain what it’s about in a few words. The author’s talking about finding a “theme”, a niche for one’s blog.
Now that one made me think about my blog. As you must have realized, there’s practically nothing that connects the posts, apart from the titles, which are always lyrics from my favorite (or not) bands. The reason I’m not writing about just one topic is that I’m not trying to give you any information. I’m not even trying to convince you to listen to these bands (although they’re great ^^). I usually write because I have something I wanna discuss, at least with myself.
Yes, I do have friends I could entertain with this stuff, but this posting-thing seemed more suitable to me when I started the blog, and now I can’t stop. Also, yes, I am going somewhere with this. As I said, pretty much the only thing that appears repeatedly in my posts is music.
And so, although I’m not trying to talk about music all the time, I figured I might just try this “themed” blogging. Don’t worry, that’s only supposed to mean that I won’t write down every single thing I think about, but try and collect my thoughts – for now at least. We’ll see how that works out.
Soo, the first band I want to write about is, as you might have guessed from the lyrics, Dir en Grey. There’s a great temptation to go all fangirly on you and start squealing “Oh my God they’re so kawaii!” (cute) Cause they are. But that’s not the point. (this, uh, thought-collecting thing isn’t working out too well, is it? Ah well, what did you expect from me?)
Diru are my favorite of the j-rock scene (with D’espairs ray as a close second). Yet I have trouble watching, and even listening to some of their recent videos. Take Clever Sleazoid for example. I really dislike the song, and that’s probably because it’s in English. I love Kyo (the singer) with all my heart, but for the love of God, why is he trying to sing in a language he apparently doesn’t even speak? As for the video itself… not one of my favorites either. Yea, the cockroaches are cute, but… Just compare the vid with Raison d’etre. Apart from the OMFGSOCUTE factor, this clip is just as sick, if not even “worse” than Clever Sleazoid, and it doesn’t sound nearly as… I have no better word for it than pathetic. Then again I always hated it when people sing in a language that is not their native one. I’m just picky when it comes to pronunciation, I guess.
Since I can’t get the damn subtitle thing to work, from left to right: Die, Shinya, Kyo, Kaoru, Toshiya
And, umm, have I mentioned how cute Kyo is? Yeah, I know, they’re over the whole Visual Kei thing, but I can’t help but think that they looked much more interesting with all the colorful hair flapping around. ( Die, I’m looking at you
). Of course, I still love their music, and I’m not saying Marrow of a Bone is a bad album, not at all. I just sometimes, kinda, wish they were still their “old selves”. Okay, so that sounded weird.
Guess what, I suck at this. (not writing in general, I hope, but this niche thingy). I always go back to my rather deconcentrated self, and write about whatever I’m thinking about. I might, uh, experiment some more with this review-like thing, but I’ll never get objective. I can’t do that.
Don’t let this scare you away, listen to Diru all day, fall in love with Toshiya’s (bassist) crooked teeth, and enjoy Kyo’s English-speaking skillz. Actually, I’m kinda used to it now. I’ll go watch the cockroaches again.

I like Diru’s music too, but I’m not very keen on their PVs. They have some good concerts, and a lot of cute backstage vids ^^ And btw this is my favorite pic about Die ^^
The only thing I have against this pic is how anorexic Shinya looks. Poor thing…
Die does look awesome though.
Edit: Oh, did you mean the linked picture? Either way, Shinya’s too thin.
I do like most of their videos… Cube, Raison d’etre (as I said), Kasumi, and so on. Cage is a little sick, but hey, sick is good.
Thanks for reading ^^
