Can’t stop growing old…

Title from Placebo’s This Picture.

There’s something that’s been bugging me all day – well, technically, all yesterday, cause here it’s tomorrow already. No wait… Uh, never mind. Anyway, it’s about kids wanting to be grown ups, and, in a way, vice versa.

I guess I’m an exception. I don’t want to be an adult, I don’t want to grow old… I don’t want to die. I do realize just how childish that sounded, and I really don’t give a shit. Anyway, my personal preferences aren’t quite the topic here.

I’m sure everyone’s heard a child saying they want to be an adult, because being an adult is so much cooler. And the answer to this is quite obvious either, isn’t it? “Yea, that’s what you think now, but by the time you grow up, you’ll know better.” Riight. Or, maybe not… Cause hey, children say being an adult is cooler, and adults say being a child is easier/more fun/whatever. Of course they are all right. Then again, apart from the fact that kids are young so naturally they’re wrong factor, there’s practically no difference between the two points of view.

The way I see it, it’s all just human nature. As no one’s perfectly happy, we all strive to be different, to achieve that point where everything is right, where you don’t have to worry about making money to feed your children, nor about having to go to bed early.

Of course, there’s a mistake in this. I know that. here it comes: Kids have never been grown up, as opposed to adults, who have been children. Since they know about both sides, obviously they can decide which is better. Right? Wrong.

Our brain makes us forget (kind of) all the nasty things that happened to us, while putting emphasis on the good things. This means adults barely know more about children’s problems than the other way around (then again, depending on your age group, this might sound silly coming from a teenager). I hope you understand what I meant, I tend to write weirdly at this time of the day (night). And, like, always. Okie, enough of this, and onto happier lands.

I seem to be obsessed with Japanese bands these days, ne? The new one: Sadie.

Mao, the vocalist (in the middle) reminds me of Kyo for some strange reason. (Yes, their voices are very different, and most of the time, they don’t look alike, but that’s the impression I got. Bite me if you have a problem with that.) I’m trying *real* hard not to make a post about him (the latter), cause I’m pretty sure you’d be bored to death.

Anyway, check out Meisai by Sadie. Or don’t. Whatever.

  1. If you’re into japanese bands you should absolutely check out Merry, Moi dix Moir (Mana XD), Alice Nine, X-Japan and AnCafe. But my personal favorites are Gackt, Miyavi and L’Arc~en~Ciel (Hyde ^^). I’m sure you already know some of them, they’re the famous ones ^^

  2. Oh please, of course I know them! :P
I was so sorry when Malice Mizer broke up… Mana’s still cute tho ^^
X-japan I can’t listen to, thinking about hide makes me cry. AnCafe is just too pop for me. :P

Gackt… i don’t really like his solo stuff. Meev is cute, but I’m sure you know that. :P I know who L’Arc~en~Ciel are, too, though I haven’t heard much from them.
Any suggestions on which of their songs are the best? ^^

  3. Some children become prematurely adult.

All adults, if they live long enough, become childish again. Well, even before then, most of us act childishly much of the time.
