Evil in my mind…
I’m feeling like shit, so I’m writing again. Makes perfect sense. :/
What is evil after all?
The opposite of good. Great. Define good, then.
Who are good people? Why are they good? Are the real christians good? (no, I’m not going to bring religion into this. Like, not really) If you help people all your life, so that you can go to heaven, is that… good? Is it selfless?
Selflessness. That’s a good one. Let’s say we define doing good as doing something from which you do not benefit, but others do. Helping just because, without actual reason. L’art pour l’art.
Now, if evil is the opposite of good, what could that possibly mean? In my opinion, this translates to doing evil, causing pain without any actual reason.
Now that we got that clear, could we call a man evil? Or a deed in itself?
Let’s take some situations. A man is starving. He steals food to survive. You wouldn’t call that evil, correct? Wrong, but not evil.
A man has a wife, and a son. It’s his responsibilty to bring them food, in one way or another. He breaks into a house to steal. He is noticed by the guy who lives there. He’s about to call the police. What does the man do? If he lets the owner of the house call the police, he will be caught, imprisoned, and his family starved to death. What does he do?
I’m not saying hurting (killing?) the owner is right, but it is logical. Can you call that evil?
Why would anyone hurt others without reason? Of course, crazy people don’t count. They’re, you know, crazy. Otherwise, I think we all have a reason. Whether it’s revenge, survival, or ignorance, we don’t hurt others for no reason.
Well, guess what? We’re back to the very beginning. What is evil?
And a video, Dir en Grey, again. I *heart* the lyrics, although they do sound stupid from an objective point of view. But hey, I’m not exactly known for having one, now am I?
